We all have it. Things in our lives that we overlook, ignore or try not acknowledge. None of us want to look bad or feel guilty, but we cannot pretend it isn't there. Our crap. The things we do that we justify or downplay. I know I have anger issues and when I lose my patience with my kids, I justify myself by passing the blame or making excuses. That is only one small example. This is were my point comes in. We need people to call us on our crap(but also walk with us as we deal with it). We need trusted people who can speak to us about these things. I was reading the story of David and Bathsheba and was struck again by how the prophet Nathan confronts David about his folly. We need these kind of people in our lives. People we trust enough to be honest and sometimes blunt with us. We get so good at convincing ourselves that we don't stink that we need someone to walk up to us and tell us, you need to deal with this. It isn't necessarily a pleasant experience, but it is worth it. If we learn to truly walk together, we learn about and experience more of God's grace and love.
Galatians 6:1-3
"Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves."
